Damien Willis – ”A true fisherman with spools of experience”.
If Damien Willis’s tackle box could tell stories it would intrigue you with adventures from fly fishing on Lough Conn to sea fishing in Dublin Bay, casting in the surf on Stradbally strand to competition fishing on the river Boyne. What Damien Willis doesn’t know about, rods, fish, tides, bait, knots or reels is not worth knowing. Fishing with Damien is a truly relaxing and pleasurable experience, one more than one occasion it was only when I was at home after leaving Damien’s company that I realised that his coaching advice had subconsciously struck a cord with me which had sharpen my perception or thought me a new skill / technique.

Beautiful Lough Ramor
Fishing is in Damien’s blood, his skills and love for the sport gleaned from his father Aiden – a living legend on the banks and in the fishing taverns of Kerry and Mayo. Damien’s passion and understanding of hydrology, fish preservation, nature conservation and animal protection means that it’s not only the people with whom he fishes gain from his time spent at the waterside.
Whether you’re a beginners or a seasoned angler Damien Willis will get an understanding of what you want from your day and will tailor a programme so that you get the most out of your time with him. I’m already looking forward to my next trip our on Lough Ramor and the thoughts of hooking a pike to beat the 12kg monster we landed last autumn.

Damien Willis was our guide for the day while fishing on Lough Ramor in Virginia Co. Cavan. My husband and I had spent days fishing on some of the Cavan lakes before, but had never experienced such a fun and interactive days fishing as we had with Damien!

Ramor Pike - 22.7lbs
Apart from the two 20llb pike that we caught, our day was so memorable because of the great craic we had listening to Damien’s stories and tales and hilarious yarns!
He is a true gentleman, extremely knowledgeable and knows all the best spots for a great catch… Thus the two huge pike!

Monster from the deep - Lough Ramor Pike - 21lb
Our delicious lunch was cooked on a campfire on an island in the middle of the lake… His boats are first class, beautifully maintained and very safe. “I am so happy to recommend Damien as a master guide, great fun and a true gentleman!”
Yours truly

It is a great honour to say that I have spent many years fishing with Damien. I have found that his knowledge and experience which he has imparted to me has benefited my fishing to no end. Damien seems to have an instinctive and intuitive approach to fly fishing; he applies a logical approach to all obstacles fly fishermen face on a daily basis and uses all his experience to make sure you are given the best opportunity to catch fish.
His boat handling is second to none and it is such a pleasure to fish in his 50 year old wooden Clinker built Sheelin boat which he lovingly restored a couple of years ago. I would have no hesitation in recommending Damien. If you are looking for that true Irish fly fishing experience, they dont come better. I always look forward to hearing from him because I know the fishing is on.

I have used the services of Mr. Damien Willis as a guide on not only the Loughs of Ireland, but also on the seashores around Ireland where I was learning the art of fly-fishing for sea bass.
Truly Damien has a wonderful knowledge of both worlds for the fly fishing enthusiast, and a man that can select the correct fly for the situation on hand.

David and his son Jack - buzzer fishing on Lough Sheelin
He has caught me fish where every other boat blanked on numerous nights fishing the buzzer on Lough Sheelin and this is down to the fact that Damien has a wonderful knowledge of the Lough its bays and most importantly the fly that works on every given situation.
Not only is Damien an avid fly fisher man himself but also has a vast knowledge sea fishing for all species around the Irish coast, and can surely show the visiting angler how to successfully conquer the tackle and baits to enjoy a brilliant days fishing of the rocky coasts of Ireland as he did for visiting friends of mine from Germany.
I can truly recommend Damien for fishing the Emerald Isle, as being one of the truly dedicated fishermen I have met in my time, any visiting angler would not go wrong by hooking up with Damien’s service on his visit here.
